The principle of hydropower

The basic principle of hydroelectric power generation of hydropower stations is to use the water level drop to cooperate with the hydro-generator to generate electricity, that is, to use the potential energy of the water to convert the mechanical energy of the water wheel, and then use the mechanical energy to drive the generator to obtain electricity. Scientists use the natural conditions of the water level drop to effectively utilize flow engineering and mechanical physics, etc., and carefully match them to achieve the highest power generation, so that people can use cheap and pollution-free electricity.

Operating principles of hydropower stations:

The principle of operation is to fully realize the requirements of safety, full power, economy and multi-supply on the basis of economical and rational utilization of hydraulic resources and guarantee of power quality. The hydropower station is responsible for the tasks of frequency regulation, peak regulation, phase regulation, and backup in the power system.

Generally, during the flood period, the water volume should be fully utilized to put all the units into operation to achieve full power and multiple supply, and bear the base load of the power system. Make full use of the adjustable output to play the role of frequency regulation, peak regulation and emergency backup of the system.

When the hydropower station is in operation, it will be affected by the compensation adjustment between different rivers; the influence of the runoff adjustment during the cascade development of the same river; and the influence of the power compensation between thermal power plants and hydropower stations in the power system. The operation of hydropower station includes normal operation, special operation, abnormal operation and economical operation. To make the hydropower station operate normally, it is necessary to pay attention to the maintenance of the power station.

The role of hydropower stations: 1. A security system to prevent floods and reduce disasters can be built to further improve the damage caused by floods and droughts and enhance their defense capabilities. 2. Establish a new security system for farmland water conservancy, further improve the function of watering farmland water conservancy, and serve the rural areas. 3. Build a new security system to protect the ecology and water resources, and further realize the function of sustainable development.

Advantages of hydropower plants

1. Energy regeneration. Since the water flow is continuously circulated according to a certain hydrological cycle, it is never uninterrupted, so the hydraulic resource is a kind of renewable energy. Therefore, the energy supply of hydropower is only the difference between the wet years and the dry years, and there will be no energy depletion problem. However, when encountering a special dry year, the normal power supply of the hydropower station may be damaged due to insufficient energy supply, and the output will be greatly reduced.

2. Low power generation cost. Hydroelectric power generation only uses the energy carried by the water flow without consuming other power resources. Moreover, the water flow used by the previous power station can still be used by the next power station. In addition, because the equipment of the hydropower station is relatively simple, its maintenance and maintenance costs are also much lower than those of the thermal power plant of the same capacity.

3. Efficient and flexible. The hydro-generator set of the main power equipment of hydroelectric power generation is not only efficient but also flexible to start and operate. It can be quickly put into operation from a standstill within a few minutes; it can complete the task of increasing or decreasing the load within a few seconds, adapting to the needs of power load changes, and will not cause energy loss.
