The suspension insulator supporting the conductor can ensure sufficient insulation between the conductor and the cross arm and the pole tower. In operation, it should be able to withstand the load of the wire in the vertical direction and the tension in the horizontal direction. Insulators not only bear the weight of bearing mechanical load wires and metal accessories, but also must bear wind load, snow load, wire dancing and impact load caused by improper operation in the process of transportation and installation, and bear a heavy load.

From an electrical point of view, insulators need to insulate wires from the ground,and withstand lightning and overvoltage shocks caused by switching operations. At one end of the high-voltage wire connection tower, a number of disk-like insulators are hung to increase the creepage distance. Zhoy polymer insulator as a kind of insulating control, which plays an important role in the overhead transmission line, that is, to support the wire and prevent the current from returning to the ground.
